WALL, 2023 4’ x 4.5” x 8’

In November 2023, I built a small partition in my studio. The dimensions were determined by the material; two 4’ x 8’ drywall sheets, and its point of attachment, by the location of studs. The space between the “partition” and the wall, could hold the width of my body and little else. Originally the partition was meant to obscure the realistically rendered body of a dead goose about which I had dreamt. Ultimately though, once the partition was finished, I understood that there was to be nothing behind it. Before I finished the partition I began to dream about another work, a large cube hovering above the ground

The cube, suspended four feet from the floor, spanned nearly the entire width and 1/3 of the length of my studio. Four arms extended from the bottom corners, aligning with a track carrying the weight of the structure, allowing it to roll the length of my studio and was covered on the front, top, and rear by a transparent, translucent and opaque scrim respectively.
